September Link Roundup

September was a busy month for us here at Fell Swoop!

  • We’ve been talking a lot about trends in visual design and one thing we noticed was an uptick in more thoughtful critiques of Skeuomorphism. Wells Riley, a designer at Kicksend says Skeuomorphism is the easy way out, while the team at LayerVault has called for a new Flat Design Era.
  • Interest in Responsive design continues to grow. Like many new tools or techniques it can feel like the solution to everything at times, but when is it not appropriate?
  • It also feels like there’s been a bit of a backlash against HTML5 in favor of Native app development. People will obviously point to Facebook’s switch to a native app approach as proof, but it their case, at least it seems like the users agree, it’s a better experience.
