Transforming a local institution
Seattle’s PBS station KCTS 9 is transforming from a traditional public broadcaster to a hub for diverse local, regional and national digital content. The existing site, with its TV-focused POV, was not up to the challenge of presenting a wider range of media options.
We worked closely with a large, devoted team of stakeholders at KCTS to define the user needs, potential features and structure of the new site. Our Clarity Lab workshop jumpstarted the process and helped gain consensus with the client team.
Mixing currency and tradition
The flexible, mosaic-grid design updates the brand of KCTS, allowing for a rich mix of topics, from in-depth articles to exclusive local video content—while still providing access to the quality PBS programming so many viewers count on.
The new site is also responsive, providing access to all of the desktop site’s functionality on mobile and tablet devices.
Results
The new site provides the KCTS team the ability to offer a destination that is vibrant, dynamic, and flexible but also able to express a distinct point of view.
With Fell Swoop’s expert help, we succeeded in crafting a unique, best-of-breed public media experience that we expect will remain relevant to current and future audiences. The proof is in our enviable site metrics. We are succeeding in delivering multimedia content to our loyal viewers across all platforms and devices.
